The MABS Tabaira Centre
After careful consideration the MABS Trustees have decided to close the MABS Tabaira
Centre in June, and centralise all ongoing activities to Javea, where we are working to
ensure a smooth and welcoming transition for everyone involved. MABS will organise
alternative treatments for all patients that request this.
The Centre opened in 2018 and has provided specialist lymphedema treatments to
cancer patients, in addition to hosting community events. This service was previously
provided at Moraira and Teulada Town Hall premises.
It is never easy to close a facility, but the demands for support for cancer patients evolve
and are now more focussed on home nursing care, and general support through the
myriad of tests, treatments and consultations (including translations where necessary).
MABS fundraising and expenditure are increasing every year, and it is important to
rebalance our support services to where they are most effective in supporting people
affected by cancer.
We are incredibly grateful for the energy and dedication shown by everyone connected
with the Tabaira Centre, who have done a great job in both care provision and fund
raising and hope to continue working with them in this next phase.
MABS is absolutely committed to both Costa Blanca and Costa Calida. We are
increasing our network of nursing agencies and other care providers in both locations.
Our main constraint is finding more volunteers to join our great team who provide this
